Back on Track!
Well, here we are again. Weeks and weeks have gone by and not a post. No more disappointment, family! Mama got this! We gettin’ back on track! Kai is moving out of toddler territory and into pre-schooler mode. He’s finally getting his very last set of teeth for a while. He is slowly losing nap time. But the biggest change? Mama had the moment that made her want to stop nursing. Yes. You read that correctly. We are officially weaning. Recently, when mama was changing her shirt, Kai came over and laughed, “Hahaha, boobies. Nom nom nom nom nom. I eat your boobies.” That was the moment when mama decided it was officially weird to nurse Kai any longer. We’re already down to one feeding a day and plan to stop by the end of the year. Mama thought she’d be sad to stop. But Kai said that weird thing. Thank you, Kai, for making it so awkward that mama wasn’t sad to quit.
Things he says
Kai’s language has improved significantly over the last few months. It’s not just that he can say sentences that has really impressed mama and daddy but that he can express his own ideas and thoughts. He gives us reasons why he is doing something or why he feels a certain way. He remembers things we do often and tells us how he wants to do something different this time. He tells us what his favorite things are, what he loves (and what he doesn’t). Kai isn’t just repeating what we say anymore. He is expressing what he really thinks. It’s blowing our minds a little bit.
Easily Convinced
Kai: I made some muffins. You can’t have some. It has sugar and alcohol.
Jian: Oh? Because I need to be an adult?
Kai: Yeah!
Jian: But I am an adult. Can I have some?
Kai: Oh! Yeah!
I thought I made a murderer
Kai: I’m gunna get bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger!
Me: Oh? Then what are you going to do?
Kai: Get a knife!
Me: …um… Then what are you going to do?
Kai: I’m gunna cut something!
Me: … Like what?
Kai: Dinner!
Me: …Oh thank god…
Wasn’t me
Kai: Liana left a big mess!
Me: Yeah. You were here too, dude. Making the mess.
Kai: … Liana left a big mess.
Me: …
A little judgey, no?
Kai: Jack pees in his diapers?
Jian: Yeah.
Kai: It stinks.
Cue eye roll and sigh from mama
Kai: Daddy, can you brush my teeth? Mama not listening to me.
Boy mom problems
Kai: I really need help.
Me: With what?
Kai: My penis.
Me: ……
Kai: It’s popping out.
Me: …… *moves underwear slightly…… Is that better?
Kai: Yeah
It was definitely chicken poop
Kai: Oh! I stepped in something.
Me: It was probably chicken poop.
Kai: No. It’s mashed potatoes.
He loves learning about things
Science. Cars. Cooking. Outer Space. Geography. Music. Animals. Dinosaurs. Well, to be fair, mama has made sure to expose him to these concepts early. Mama figured, if children like to learn when they are young, then she would teach Kai as much as she could when he was young so that he would love learning when he gets older. Mama tries to make it fun and silly and when he’s had enough, we stop. It’s paying off. He starting to understand that if you mix colors, you can make new colors. He knows the names of the planets in the solar system. He’s learning to write letters and is starting to grasp the sounds they make. He’s learning the continents. But more importantly, he’s enjoying it. He’s a life-long learner.
A little time with family
Auntie Winnie came over to see the family for Thanksgiving! And as a special surprise, Uncle Miko came the day after! Kai soaked up all the love from his auntie and uncle. He showed them his new skills and they taught him a few new things too. Mostly, they taught him how to play video games.
In the life…
Eating cereal with water. Playing in garbage. Sleeping. Riding bikes. Eating cookies. Doing a weird wave. Being one with nature. Putting on clothes by himself. Just wearing a hat. Making friends. Getting close to Santa Pooh. Paakikul.
