it's summer break, yall!

it's summer break, yall!

This week was an action-packed, jet-fueled, fun-filled start to summer festivities! Kai didn’t have school this week because it was summer vacation. That didn’t stop Kai from learning lots of new things. Even though he’s obviously teething and annoyingly testy, we enjoyed the extra time with our little monster.

First Trip to the Zoo
Maui doesn’t actually have a zoo. But Oahu does! Since Jack and Kai didn’t have school this week, their mamas thought it would be fun to fly to the Honolulu Zoo. The task was daunting, but thank to a little help from Gigi (and the boys being on their best behavior), everyone made it in one piece. We saw animals, shared laughs, and had lots of fun! What a great way to start the week!

Oh, and Jack took a few steps! He’s pretty much nailed the whole walking thing.

Vacation Mode!
The rest of the week, the Lius stayed at a resort on the Big Island. Kai is almost too big to fly as a lap child. This was the last trip he would take before having his own seat. We took a 40-minute flight and had a proper family vacation (with Uncle Vince :) ).

It was a glorious week of rest and relaxation… and swimming. So much swimming. All the swimming. Thank you, water wings!

If you haven’t gathered, he’s basically a pro-pooler now. Kai loved swimming in the pool! He practiced kicking his feet, floating on his back, getting in and out of the water, going underwater, and getting tossed around like a hot potato. Needless to say, he handled pool time like a boss.

We even went on a few nature walks, with and without slippers (depending on his mood).

No shoes? No problem.

We took a couple of family photos.

We partook in the hotel buffet.

We let Kai sit in the empty seat next to us like a big boy for the first time.

Mama almost forgot: It was Father’s Day
Kai is so lucky to have so much time with a daddy that is such a big part of his growth and development. Mama does not know how she would do this whole parenting thing without him.
