The ocean, she calls to me.

The ocean, she calls to me.

Ok, so we took a two week break. Mommy tried to get to the posts but she was so busy and tired, she just couldn't. That just means that this post is going to be full of pictures and videos! Since the last post, Kai has got two new teeth, visited lots of friends, increased his English and Cantonese vocabulary, and learned how to use a few new toys. Kai is getting especially better at communicating what he wants to do. He uses his "all done" sign consistently when he is finished eating. He will also take your hand to lead you where he wants to go. Along with better communication skills, come tantrums. At least they only last a few seconds.

I don't remember why he was crying here.

All the attention!
Grandma and Uncle Keean have been here for the last two weeks! Because Grandma and Kai facetime so frequently, he smiled and giggled as soon as she walked through the door. Grandma was very excited to get all the love from her only grandbaby. She babysat Kai lots of time while she was here so mommy could get a few breaks. Mommy and daddy even got to go on a few dates! (sidenote: Uncle Keean left before we got a picture of the two of them together... oops!)

Bro date
Mommy and Auntie Nia have really been enjoying our switcheroo days! This week, Mommy took Kai to Auntie Nia's. Both boys woke up cranky but once they were together. they laughed and played until Mommy picked him up. Last week, Cullen came over to play. It is so sweet to watch them play so happily together!

Even when they are not together, it's funny how they think alike...

They happen to both be wearing Cullen's overalls...

Using some new things!
Kai has become interested in stacking so mommy has made sure there are things for him to practice with. Sometimes, he successful and it makes him proud. Sometimes, he's not and he has other feelings...

One of his favorite gifts has been this little backpack. He wears it every day around the house. It's way too cute.

Learning new words!
Kai finally has a name for mommy: mama. For weeks, Kai has been using "daddy" to call for or find daddy. He has said mama when he was crying since he was very small but, for the first time, mommy heard him say mama when he saw her. Mommy is no longer mommy. She is mama now. Most of the time, Kai gets it right. Sometimes...

His Cantonese, however, is improving!

This ain't my first rodeo parade..
Actually, it was. Because we live in Makawao (a paniolo town), every year around July 4th, we have a rodeo and parade. Kai is a bit too young to appreciate the rodeo but we decided to brave the rain and watch the parade. He wasn't super impressed but he enjoyed getting his free swag.

Playing outside
We love playing outside. Going to new places. Meeting new friends.

Playing at home
We love playing at home. Breaking handmade toys. Pressing our faces against glass. Wearing bowls as hats.
