I'm 5 months old and I'm very mature.
Does this kid have some personality now or what?? Our quiet little bean has turned into a screaming monster. Kai smiles, laughs, and wiggles when he likes something and SCREAMS when he doesn't. Sometimes, he screams when he likes something too. Basically, he learned he can scream and does it a lot now. It is very annoying to mommy and daddy. We are not fans. Kai has also become much more dramatic when he cries. Now he incorporates coughing, excessive pouting, and his favorite "ma-ma-ma" sound while staring deep into our eyes to look as pathetic as possible so we pick him up. Mommy and daddy have been practicing a lot of eye rolls and sighs... Our screaming monster is ready to test everything in his world (including our patience).
He's getting better at grasping
Mommy is surprised at how much time he spends trying to grasp things. Kai stays focused on what he wants and works hard to scoot, roll, or reach it. Everything he reaches then goes directly into his mouth. However, there are just some things mommy wishes he didn't want to put in his mouth.
Kai's first Thanksgiving
Kai had his first Thanksgiving at Auntie Jamie's house. The whole family went over to share food and laughs and love. Kai was happy hanging with some of his favorite people and four-legged friends. Kai got passed around like a hot potato and was a happy baby most of the night. Also, he took a giant, stinky poop that daddy had to clean.
Beach day!
It's been very cold and rainy Upcountry, so Auntie Nia invited the family to have a beach day in Kihei. Kai and Cullen had their regular greeting: Cullen slowly moves his finger (this time full of sand and sunscreen) towards Kai's open mouth before an adult tells them to stop it. Cullen then switches to sweet hugs that Kai is not as into as the finger greeting. Cullen gets bored and starts introducing himself to fellow beachgoers. This is their thing. After their ritual encounter, Cullen was off to the waves and Kai did his own thing.
