It's my party, I can cry if I want to.
Kai turned the big 1 this weekend! He had a birthday party with friends, got lots of presents, and even had his uncle fly in for his big day! But before we get to all the party stuff, we gotta talk about the other things he did this week.
He was his usual cutie patootie self, even if he was teething all week.
He wore his hat
Yeah, that's post-worthy because if anyone knows babies they know they never wear hats. But Kai did and he looked adorable.
Mommy switch-up
Mommy and Auntie Nia have been talking about babysitting each others kids once a week so we could get a break to clean or nap or do whatever for a few hours. That started this week! Cullen came over and painted. Then Kai went to Auntie Nia's and gardened. Both mommies were so happy to see them play well together!
Bonding with Uncle Isaiah
Uncle Isaiah spent a few days with the family for mommy and Kai's birthday. It took a while for Kai to warm up but soon he was laughing and playing with his Uncle Isaiah.
He figured out how to get through the doggie door...
Daddy is the cool guy now
Daddy has become Kai's favorite person these days. Kai can now say, "daddy" and loves giving him hugs and kisses. He's been playing games with daddy and even taking daddy by the hand and leading him around.
First birthday!
Ok, ok. Birthday time! Kai was showered with so much love for his birthday. For the past few weeks, presents have been coming in from friends and family. He got lots of birthday wishes. Mommy and daddy even threw him a little party! Even though mommy knew he wouldn't remember his birthday, she still made sure to make his day extra fun. The night before his birthday, Uncle Isaiah, his girlfriend Emily, and Auntie Jamie all pitched in to make a box fort with mommy while daddy was on baby duty. They all worked together to decorate the house and make it party ready. Mommy invited a few friends for Kai and the little ones had a blast! Kai made it to cake time and then he was over it. During his nap, his friends left but when he woke up, he had the fort and all his presents to himself. :)
Mommy and daddy can't believe its been a whole year since Kai was born. What a difference a year makes. When he was born, he was nothing but a tiny peanut with no personality. Now he's walking, he has teeth, communicates, laughs, plays, and gives love. We are indeed putty in his tiny hands, we love him so much.
