Aug 12 Fix stuff. Man things. Bro time.

It's been business as usual this week for Kai. No teething. No sickness. Just Kai doing his thing. He's getting better at sleeping through the night. He is eating again. He communicates what he wants. He plays well with his friends. Kai was actually a (dare I say it) VERY easy baby this week. Mama was able to really get into a routine for the first time since he was born (OVER A YEAR AGO). She cooked, she cleaned, and she took care of Kai without wanting to burn everything to the ground. Progress.

I can do it myself
One of the biggest reasons mama was able to get so much done was because Kai doesn't want mama's help as much anymore. Kai's always been pretty independent but he used to need a lot of mama's attention in the morning. Now, mama can fill his sippy cup with kefir while she makes breakfast and he does whatever he does (mama just keeps an ear open). He spends a majority of his mornings rearranging the house or wandering around outside. Mama only interrupts him when we have somewhere to go, to eat, sleep, or to get a new diaper.

It's a milestone!
Evidently, drinking from a cup on his own is supposed to be a thing he can do. Mama wanted to see if he could.

He's an athlete
This kid is actually pretty coordinated. He RUNS up and down our sloped concrete driveway, climb in and out of his chair, and dance (of course) everyday without falling. He is also surprisingly careful; taking time to figure out how to maneuver his body safely. Because of this, he's gotten braver and bolder when we are at parks. He forces his parents to smile through their fear a lot these days.

Hangin' out with GG
Kai's been able to spend a lot more time with the whole family, including the elusive GG (great grandma). GG still works and is the only person who is not home all day with Kai. But now, Kai calls her by her name and asks to visit. It's pretty cute.
