Sleep, you slippery fish, you.

Sleep, you slippery fish, you.

You know you're parenting when you daydream about sleeping. You think to yourself, "I'd gladly pay $100 to get one six hour session of uninterrupted sleep". Mommy is there. This week has been a little rough for her because she fired daddy from nighttime feedings (his two month trial ended and we decided not to renew his contract). Although Kai only wakes up twice at night for feedings, he has decided that it's also a great opportunity to practice smiling and laughing (especially at 4am). We don't turn on lights and try not to interact with him during those feedings, but it's impossible not to smile when he is being so cute. Once it's daytime, Kai will take naps but only for a half hour on his own and the rest of the time someone is stuck holding or patting him.

Here are some photos of Kai sleeping so mommy can look at them and say, "'Member that one time..."

Since Kai doesn't sleep as well as mommy likes, she does not sleep as well as mommy likes. Now she's turning into a crazy person.

All work and no sleep makes Keisa a sleep sleep.

Since daddy doesn't have to wake up in the middle of the night anymore, he makes sure to give mommy at least one hour every day to go to the gym or do whatever she wants. This week, she didn't want gym time.

Kai's best friend
Kai has a friend, Cullen. Cullen and Kai hang out every week. Most of the time Cullen is smiling and having a good time and Kai is sleeping or crying (we're hoping that'll change in a couple months). On Friday, Kai met Cullen, Auntie Nia, and Grandma Maggie at Baby Beach. Kai loved hanging out with Grandma Maggie while mommy took a dip in the ocean with Auntie Nia and Cullen!

Side Quest: Iao Valley
Daddy had a half-day on Friday, so the family went to Iao Valley before Kai's two month check up. It was the first time mommy and daddy had gone back since a flash flood wrecked homes and changed the park. Kai slept for most of the adventure but did wake up long enough to dip his toes in the water and watch the wind blow through the trees.

Stretch Armstrong
Kai had his 2 month check up on Friday and we learned he is on his way to becoming a gangly octopus, spider monkey baby. At 24 inches and almost 13 pounds, he's in the 95th percentile for length and 50th percentile for weight. He also got his first round of vaccines. Normally, babies are given four rounds of vaccines on their first visit but mommy and daddy opted for just two this visit and get the other two next month. Kai was a trooper and only cried for a few seconds after his shot. He was legit pissed about it though.

If you EVER do that to me again....

If you EVER do that to me again....

Wait, j/k. He just fell asleep in the car. But seriously, what is that face? So much attitude that he got from his father, obviously.

Other things Kai did
Held his rattle. Said bye to Great Grandma. Hung out. Was a table. Played games. Listened to Jimmy Hendrix, Jack Johnson, D'Angelo, Jill Scott, and Beyonce. Looked cute. Proved, above all else, he is a gamer.

In conclusion... Beano.
