Space, the final frontier.

Space, the final frontier.

Kai is well in the “Terrible Twos”. He has very little patience for when things go wrong and can’t handle all his feels about it. He pushes things, tips things over, screams, cries, whines, throws fits on the floor over the littlest things. He fake cries on a regular basis. But, hey, kids, am I right? Mama finds solace in the idea that he is doing normal two year old things, even if they can be annoying. Sometimes, it’s even a little funny. Even after the roughest days, mama checks on him after he’s fallen asleep and seeing him sleep so peacefully melts her heart all over again.

I mean… he fell asleep with his helmet! SO CUTE!

Mango
A few weeks ago, the family went to the farmer’s market and some uncle was selling giant mangos. Now we can’t get enough of mango. Mango. Mango! MANGO!

French Lessons!
Mama has no big reason for Kai to learn French. Jack speaks French. Jack and Kai are best friends. Kai learns French. Mama told Kai last week we were going to Auntie Paula’s house to learn French and Kai says to mama, “Bleu?” Yeah, bro. Bleu.

"People come up to me all the time and say 'you should be a model,' or 'you look just like a model,' or 'maybe you should try to be a man who models.' And I always have to laugh because I'm so good looking. Of course I'm a model." —Derek ( and Kai if he could create complex sentences like this)
We love helping our entrepreneur friends any way we can. Last week, Auntie Nia asked the Forest Friends if the could model the shorts she makes. Free shorts and cute photos?? Yes please!

Disasters in and outside of the house
Fires, hurricanes, and mold, oh my! Since the sugar cane fields aren’t being managed anymore, they have been prey to a few bored people with matches. It’s also hurricane season so wind and rain is even more unpredictable than usual. Luckily, the fires or hurricanes haven’t hit our house. Plus, we are getting used to the campfire smell around the island and have put together our emergency kit.

Liana playdates
Liana had her last playdates at our place before her long trip to Germany. Kai and Liana have really bonded over the last few weeks. We already miss her and can’t wait for her to come home!

Schoolboy
Kai has been loving going to school. When mama tells him it’s time to leave, he gets ready and gets in the car easy-peasy. He loves seeing his friends and saying “hi” to Bubbles, the pig. Everyday after school, Kai brings his progress report to Daddy and they read it together.. He is consistently one thing, “verbal”. No surprise there!

Staying Active
Kai has lots of physical energy he has to get out every day all day. It’s often hard to get him to focus on anything because he can’t sit still. We’ve been doing a lot of outside things these days.

With all Kai’s “activity”, mama has been really able to practice her sprinting skills…

Shaka, bra!
