Listen, we love our son. But who THE. HECK. does he think he is?? Kai used to be such a sweet little boy but lately, he’s been kind of an annoying a-hole. He has been pushing every button and boundary he can find. When he’s reached the end of the line, meltdown. Mama has so many questions and conflicting feelings now. Like: why he get to cry on the floor over nothing when I’ve been dealing with his moody butt all day? and I love you but I also want to smack you to see if it helps the situation. Why are there horse stickers all over my house? and This kid is annoying. but I’m so proud of him.

Mamas are cheap
Kai and mama went to a free outdoor school class and Kai loved it. Mama thought the activities were easy and he got to play with other kids but it wasn’t worth $140. So she got together with a few other mamas and had their own free version. Kai and his friends explored the nearby forest, painted nature pictures, sang songs, and snacked together. Kai has been loving forest exploration so much that we went many times recently.

Gigi is retired!
Gigi retired at the end of last year! Everyone is enjoying her company, especially Kai (especially mama because now they have an in-house babysitter! :D) Gigi has even been working out with mama and daddy at the park!

Iron Chef
Kai learned to make “stone soup” once. Now he pretends to make soup all day. Kai spends a majority of his time cooking all sorts of soups in his kitchen. Apple soup. Pepper and apple soup. Car soup. Block soup. Sometimes, he pretends to use the microwave. Sometimes, the pans are hot. Sometimes, he needs to spend a long time washing them. He makes us breakfast in bed. He brings soup to us, pretends to eat it then waits patiently for us to do the same.

We tried to do learning things
These days it’s really hard to keep Kai’s focus to teach him new things. Mama put together some matching set games for Kai. He always asks to play “game” but he never sits for long. Here is video of him doing a pretty good job once.

We did other things
We played at the park. We had a two baby painting party. We became a Seahawks fan.

Fine… Mama loves you
Even on his worst days, when he wears mama’s patience thin, forces her to question her decision to procreate, when she is struggle-bussing her way to bedtime, he will throw her a bone. He will make her laugh out loud or cuddle her so sweetly, she can’t help but shower him with mama love.
