Forgive mama.

Forgive mama.

The weeks just slipped away from mama. First, she was too busy. Then, we had guests. Then, she was too tired. She could have done the post yesterday evening, but instead she chose to spend an hour, mouth agape, watching one of the worst series finale she’d ever seen. Boo. Boo Game of Thrones. Boo. (Inserting cute video of Kai to move past feelings of disappointment)

Ok… moving on…

So Kai had an entire month to learn knew things and perfect old skills. Defiance has kicked up several notches. It is now a serious chore to get Kai to go to the bathroom or put on a sock or eat a meal or put away a toy without an Emmy-award winning, melodramatic, soap-operatic tantrum. Although toddlers can have very real feelings on feelings about feelings, about 40% of the time, Kai is indeed acting. It is really, really annoying. Here he is, however, with real feelings about taking a nap.

School
These super, awesome fits even extend to public places. Mama had been taking Kai to school for two half-days every week. Then Kai decided that wasn’t enough time. Kai made it clear that he wanted to stay longer. Very clear. Now Kai goes for two full days.

Gamma and Pop Pop Time!
Kai doesn’t get to see his grandparents often because we live so far away. But when they come to visit he gets all their attention to himself! Boy, does he take advantage! Kai loved showing off and showing his grandparents around. Pop Pop has lots of energy to keep up with Kai, giving mama a much needed break. :)

Mother’s Day
We didn’t do anything too special this Mother’s Day. Instead we ate breakfast at home with the family and Kai gave mama her present he made in school. It was so freaking cute, mama balled her eyes out. Twice.

Daddy’s birthday
Daddy’s birthday was at the beginning of the month. Mama had a super great idea of a very easy project that wouldn’t take too much time and would turn out perfect. Then she remembered Kai was a toddler and we gave him what we made. Daddy loved it so much he put it on his office wall. :)

Seabury Hall Craft Fair
Kai got to go to the Craft Fair for the first time this year. Kai met up with his friends, played in the bouncy castle, danced to music, rode ponies, and attempted to go down the giant slide. He had a lot more fun then mama was anticipating. :)

Friend zone
Kai, of course, did not miss any opportunity to hang with his friends. Even though we have our regular meetup on Wednesdays, Kai got one-on-one playtime with everyone in his crew. Kai may not have his cousins nearby but at least he has this group to act as his hanai family.

Growing things
Mama has been working hard to set up a garden for the family to eat from. Kai has been a “big help”. He is learning to be careful with the plants, put dirt in buckets, pull weeds, and dig in the dirt. But his favorite thing to do is water the garden.

He’s an active boy
Kai is athletic. Mama and daddy both noticed early on that, although he’s not a fast runner, he has amazing balance and agility. Mama and daddy continue to cultivate his interest in physical activity so he will always have a healthy way to let out aggression and/or energy. Kai has been getting really good at riding his bike, so good that he has enough balance to fly down the hills at the park!

Mama continues to pay for Kai to go to gymnastics, even though he spends a majority of the time doing this:

Evidently, broken hula-hoop time is worth mama’s money?

Oh, and stickers. Mama is paying for Kai to eagerly await getting stickers on his hands.

But at least he is getting good use out of his climber…

Home life
We’ve been utilizing the t.v. a little more than usual. But, hey, a little Sesame Street and Super Simple Songs doesn’t hurt.

Plus we’ve been doing other things. Like reading.

We even went outside to play “catch”

Kai has really been a handful these last few weeks and it seems like he won’t be letting up any time soon. But every once in a while, Kai will be his sweet, cuddly, silly self.
