Better Late Than Never!
Kai had another fun-filled week of socializing and anti-socializing. Kai didn’t get to see his forest friends this week because mama caught a cold but he did do all his other regular things. Kai’s gross motor skills are improving exponentially. He’s getting better and better at jumping and balancing, in particular. Kai has started jumping off of things and can even lift his feet from the ground when he rides his balance bike! Mama has taken a bit of a hiatus in Kai’s reading, foreign languages, and math lessons so she can focus on getting Kai acclimated to his new school schedule. But even without structured practice, Kai’s language continues to become more complex, he is recognizing more letters, counts to three, and even anticipates the higher numbers like seven and eight when you count. Mama does hope to get Kai’s lessons up and running by next week.
School Dayz
Kai i still struggling a bit with the concept of mama leaving him at school. He repeats, “mama come back” many times every day, even more the day after he’s been to school. He cries at drop off and as soon as he sees mama for pick up. Mama stopped nursing in the mornings to help Kai better transition into school but he still cries for ba when he is there. Leaving mama for this long even takes a toll on his nap schedule and potty training success. This is Kai’s first big transition away from mama so mama and daddy make sure to help Kai work through his feelings and remind him he is safe. Kai’s teachers have been doing a wonderful job helping Kai too. They send lots of pictures of Kai so mama knows he is doing well and learning. It also helps that Jack is there too!
All the motor skills!
Kai’s been really pushing his gross motor skills to a new level! Mama and daddy are super proud of how well he handles the playground at the park and his bike skills. He’s also been loving his lego set that Gigi and Papa bought him! The legos have been especially great for reinforcing colors, counting, and language. :)
It was hard to get a clear shot because he was just way too proud of himself. :)
Since mama was sick for most of the week, she didn’t take a lot of pictures. But we did some things. Like get manju from Sam Satos. Wore our boots everywhere. Went shopping with Gigi. Sucked the insides out of a tomato. Practiced our drumming. etc. etc.
