First day of school, yall!
Mama and daddy are just amazed at how grown up Kai has become. He’s sharing with friends, putting lots of words together, eating all the foods, and mastering all the gross motor skills. Kai is now going to school on Monday and Tuesday, play group on Wednesday, and gymnastics on Friday. You may be thinking, “That’s a lot of a little one-year-old” but it’s not. Kai has suddenly turned into a giant ball of energy and we need positive ways of letting that energy out. Like mall water fountains.
School Boy, Schoo Boy, Yeah Dats Me!
Kai is officially a big boy who goes to school! This week, Kai started going to school for two half days. His friend, Joshua has been going to the same school for a few months now but Jack and Kai started in the same classroom together. Both mamas were happy to hear that the boys looked out for each other on their first days. Kai stayed pretty happy until he realized he wasn’t going to get his 10:30am “ba” time. The first day he cried so much he threw up twice and peed through all his clothes. The next day mama brought extra snacks and mama and Kai went to the potty together at school. Kai did much better on Tuesday and (fingers crossed) he’ll be just fine next week.
Joshua visit!
Joshua came over on Monday so Auntie Karen could help daddy with some work. Mama had the joy of watching the boys play. They were so happy together! The shared with each other, explored the house (inside and out), and even had tiny toddler conversations. They were both so easy to handle; mama didn’t have to do any work at all!
Back at Makawao Forest…
The Forest Friends united for snacks and tea and good old naturey fun! These kids have gotten used to seeing each other every week. Now they are greeting each other with hugs and kisses. Most everyone can say the names of their friends. It’s pretty sweet to hear them call and look out for each other. They genuinely love being reunited once a week, so mama tries never to miss a session.
This little gymnast
Kai has been swinging from all sorts of things before he was even a year and a half. He has climbing gym in the house to keep him off of mama’s furniture. But we made the big leap and tried out gymnastics. Kai is one of the youngest in the group but he LOVED (no, really, LOOOVVEEEEDDDD) bouncing and jumping and rolling and tumbling all over the gym floor. Mama is happy Kai is gaining confidence and strength in his body and is hoping that gymnastics will teach him how to fall safely.
All things boy
Not on purpose. Kai just loves all the things they say little boys love. Cars. Trucks, Construction. Jeeps. Building excavators with legos. Dinosaurs. Riding bikes… more specifically, jumping off things on his bike. Lots and lots and lots of physical movement. Mama never thought she would know what a backhoe loader or combine tractor is but she does now.
Some extra stuff
Mama leaves you with some extra photos of Kai. He specifically asked that I take a picture of him wearing daddy’s sock. He chose to wear just his headphones or backpack and nothing else. And we saved a giant grasshopper.
